CLP’s PED Program has been a Powerful “Go-To” for both Local and Nationwide Media
You may have noticed that the CLP’s Pinellas Eviction Diversion Program (PEDP) has been receiving a lot of media attention throughout 2021. It’s no wonder, given the powerful resources, program and dedicated team put in place to help families in Pinellas County affected by the Covid-19 pandemic avoid eviction and get the help they need. The coverage has included both local and national media including Thomson Reuters Foundation News and the Washington Post.
Community Law Program and the PEDP have made a mission of helping people facing eviction due to the Covid-19 pandemic in many ways. Not only are there online resources available on both their web sites to help people navigate and apply for financial assistance provided by the government, but they also offer pro-bono legal advice and a landlord-tenant mediation program. In addition to the available resources and help, the CLP and PEDP team have collaborated with local grassroots organizations that have literally gone out on foot through local communities providing information so that people are aware of what government help is available, as many had no idea.
Since the program launched in late 2020, the PEDP helped close to 700 families avoid evictions and countless others find the resources they needed to apply for available government funds, reply to eviction notices and more.
